IAB

Independent Association of Businesses is a non profit trade group for the purpose to help American small businesses flourish and effectively creates jobs in the US.

2012:  IAB Celebrates 30 Years of Service
To celebrate the 30th Anniversary, IAB continues to proactively educate and advance small business ownership with its own national radio program.  IAB LIVE Small Business News Talk Radio interviews successful small business owners throughout America to  share their stories about how they learned to overcome challenges to create success.  IAB also launched a free digital Small Business Newspaper, published daily, to cover innovative ideas, breaking news and progressive trends in the marketplace by America’s best small business experts.

2011: IAB Designated 501(c)6 organization by the Internal Revenue Service
IAB was advised by its counsel to apply as a tax exempt trade association with the IRS.  Within weeks after filing for tax exempt status, IAB received a Letter of Determination granted from the IRS.  Entities filing for tax exempt status estimate the ongoing process will take up to a year or longer, if ever, before receiving such privileged designation.  IAB did not anticipate such a rapid response.
Upon notification of its tax exempt status, IAB called upon its federal counsel at Webster, Chamberlain and Bean, a 40 year old Washington, D.C. landmark for legal service to the nation’s leading associations. WC&B acknowledged with amazement the speediness of the return, as being unprecedented in the firm’s history. IAB further learned that the date of IAB’s tax exempt status was not from the approved day forward, rather, it was deemed retroactive to the Association’s incorporated filing date in 1982. IAB was advised that being granted tax exempt, the rapid response of notification and also being granted retroactive status is one of the highest testaments it could receive for its’ efforts working to help the national small business community.

2010: Clear Vision

Over the past 28 years, IAB has been involved in the lives of small business owners and the self employed workers across America.  Well over a million members later, we refined our name to Independent Association of Businesses better clarity who we benefit, empower and serve.
